Da Nang to offer on-board fireworks viewing service
Preparations for the International Fireworks Competition 2011 have been started to ensure the success of the contest, said the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The competition, with the theme “The sparkling Han River”, is expected to take place in Da Nang on April 29th and 30th, 2011.
More Japanese turn to incentive Vietnam tours
Major travel companies serving Japanese tourists have said more and more Japanese have chosen incentive tours rather than designed their own trips as seen previously.
Around ten years ago the Japanese visitors to the country were mostly young women and elderly people. During their Vietnam trips, they preferred shopping and sightseeing, according to the tour operators.
The trend is changing as less young Japanese people are coming while more guests are picking incentive tours instead. However, the elderly still keep arriving here.
Three provinces plan joint tourism representative office in Japan
Three central provinces are planning to set up a joint representative office in Japan as part of a program to attract tourists from there.
Nguyen Quoc Thanh, deputy director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thua Thien-Hue Province, told the Daily that his province together with neighboring Quang Nam and Danang was preparing to open the office some time this yearThe three have got support from an organization in Japan, investors, travel firms and Vietnam Airlines for the rep office scheme as it is believed to help to promote the entire central region as a destination for tourists.
Ethnology museum celebrates Tet with diverse programme
The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology will hold its annual Tet (Lunar New Year) celebrations on February 6-8, with music, food and games – and the participation of 90 representatives from six ethnic groups from around the country.
The Raglai from the central province of Ninh Thuan and the Dao Lo Gang and Na Mieo from the northern province of Lang Son will be participating in the holiday programme for the first time.
Traditional performances will include gong ceremonies of the Raglai, prayers for peace and good crops by the Na Mieo, Tay and Dao Lo Gang, the lion dance of the Nung, and the bamboo pole dance of the Thai, as well as calligraphy, water puppetry of the Kinh majority.
International yacht festival promotes yachting tourism
Yacht teams from 20 countries and territories in the world will take part in the International Yacht Festival 2011 which will be held in Mui Ne, in the central province of Binh Thuan from March 17-20.
Themed “Yacht, Sea, Sand and Sun,” the second yacht festival will include interesting sports, tourism and entertainment activities such as a yacht exhibition, a yacht performance by professional athletes, plus international music performances with the participation of artists from the Czech Republic, the Republic of Korea, Australia and Russia and arts performances from Vietnam.
There will be a seminar on building a brand name for Vietnamese sea activities, along with advertising and developing yachting amusements in Vietnam.
