Vietnam eyes ASEAN travelers for central region

Vietnam’s national tourism agency has started a program to improve the quality of tourism services in the central region in an effort to attract regional travelers, especially those from Thailand, an official said.
Vu The Binh, Director of the Travel Department of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that activities were being taken to improve services and tour guides quality, and to address undercutting among local tour operators. Cooperation with tourism agencies of Thailand and Laos is also being bolstered to increase the number of visitors from the region, he said.

Vietnam joins ranks of Asia’s finest hotels and resorts

Vietnamese resorts that made the top 20 list for best resorts in Asia included, Life Heritage Resort-Hoi An, The Nam Hai, and Evason Ana Mandara & Six Senses Spa. The Sofitel Legend Metropole-Hanoi and the Park Hyatt-Saigon, each won top spots in the survey of the 100 top hotels in Asia.

While readers lodged three Vietnam resorts onto the list, they also sung the praises of five resorts from Bali and five resorts from Thailand.

“Both Bali and Thailand have tremendous reputations as resort destinations,” said John Blanco, the new general manager at The Nam Hai.

Malaysia encourages Vietnam to develop homestay services

Vietnam has potential to develop a very strong homestay tourism market, a Malaysian tourism official told the Malaysia Homestay Seminar and Travel Mart at the Duxton Hotel Saigon in HCMC.
“We are proud of our country and the achievements of homestay tourism. Your country is endowed with beautiful natural landscapes, your country has enough human resources, and I think you, Vietnam, can also develop homestay tourism as much as we are doing and have done,” said Mohd Akbal Setia, Director of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board in HCMC.
Dato Hj Sahariman Hamdan, Chairman of Malaysia Homestay Association, said that homestay tours are an experience where tourists stay with selected families, interact and experience the daily life of these families and local culture.

Binh Thuan to host International Sailing Festival

Yachts froyachtm 20 countries and territories around the world will take part in an International Sailing Festival in Mui Ne resort in southern Binh Thuan province from December 8-11.

The Binh Thuan provincial People’s Committee has announced a range of fringe activities, including an international Pop and Rock concert on Hong Hill, two Gala Dinners at the Novotel Hotel and Mui Ne Siva tourism resort, an exhibition and a seminar on sailing at Sea Links City.
