Thailand tourism promotion strategy for 2011 Amazing Thailand always amazes you

amazing thailandThe Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced its promotional strategy for 2011 along with several initiatives designed for specific market segments. For next year, TAT will still use the highly-successful “Amazing Thailand” theme. It will be enhanced with the new tag line “Always Amazes You” to reinforce the many aspects of “Thainess” that are so appealing to visitors from all over the world.

Some 15.5 million international tourist arrivals will be targeted for 2011, generating an approximate revenue of 600 billion Baht (US$18.5 billion), an increase of 9 percent from last year, and the domestic tourism sector expects to have 91 million trips with revenue of 432 billion Baht (US$13.3 billion), a rise of 3 percent from last year.

Da Nang to host international fireworks contest

fireworksA two-day international fireworks contest with the theme “Han River” will be held in the central city of Da Nang from April 29-30, 2011. Da Nang Authorities has announced the participation of four foreign teams including the Republic of Korea (ROK), China , Italy and the United Kingdom (UK) besides the host Da Nang team.

According to the schedule, the UK team (Jubilee Fireworks company), the RoK team (Hanwha Group) and the host Vietnam ( Da Nang city’s team) will perform in the first night. The second night will see fireworks set off by the Italian team (Parente Fireworks A&C SNC Group) and the Chinese team (Panda Fireworks Art Display company limited).

Laos Airlines reopens Pakse-HCM City route

laos airlineLaos Airlines, in co-operation with Champasak province, launched a new flight route from Vientiane-Pakse to HCM City.
The flights on the new route will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The new route aims to promote trade and tourism between Viet Nam and Laos.
Champasak province's chief Sonxay Siphandon said that Champasak province needs support from industries in HCM City, including the agriculture, health care and telecommunications sectors.

City explores new routes for river tourism

river tourThe HCMC tourism authority will survey a new tourist route upstream the Saigon River to the neighboring province of Dong Nai early on November as the city government gave approval, an official said.

Nguyen Viet Anh, Director of the Travel Division of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said the city’s vice chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Hong, had allowed the department to undertake the survey following a meeting on Monday about a plan to explore some river tourist routes to develop this kind of tourism for the city.

Air France to resume HCM City-Paris air route

Air France, a founding member of the airline alliance SkyTeam, said it would resume the Ho Chi Minh City-Paris direct flight on November 2, after six years of cessation. Accordingly, Air France will offer three flights a week, using Boeing 747-400 aircraft with 40 business-class seats and 396 tourist-class seats.
