Coastal provinces to launch new islands tour

cu lao chamThe tourism authorities of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces plan to launch a tour combining islands and inland destinations to further build on their reputation as the land of heritage sites.
Do Tan Cuong, Deputy Director of Quang Nam Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the tour would likely be launched next year. Tourists will start the tour in the ancient town of Hoi An to explore Cu Lao Cham, or Cham Islets, before getting on board speed boats to ply the waters for two hours to Quang Ngai’s Re Island on the island district of Ly Son.

Vietnam in the eyes of Australian visitors

Data from some of Vietnam’s top hotels, as well as the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNTA), showed that Australian visitors are flocking to Vietnam, the Indochina’s most populated nation.

Australian used to travel to Indonesia, particularly Bali, Fiji and Thailand when making plans to explore other parts of the Asia-Pacific region. However, the trend is changing when a largest-ever number of Australian visitors has been choosing Vietnam to spend their vacation.

The number of visitors from Australia to Ho Chi Minh City’s iconic Caravelle Hotel has increased double while the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital’s most prestigious address, has seen a 48% rise over the past 12 months.

India eyes more Vietnam travelers

du khachIndian officers have introduced new offers including visa on arrival and train tours in that country in a move to attract more Vietnamese travelers to India’s places of interest, particularly Buddhist sites.
Speaking at the “Incredible India: Buddhist Destination” presentation in HCMC, the Indian Consul General in HCMC, Abhay Thakur, stressed Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s announcement during his visit to Vietnam in October this year that the country would extend visa on arrival to nationals of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines from January 1, 2011.

The Nam Hai wins award for community work

nam hai resortHospitality organization The Leading Hotels of the World has granted a Commitment to Excellence award to The Nam Hai resort, managed by the luxury hotel and resort management company GHM on the coast of Quang Nam Province.

The organization handed out excellence awards to three hotels for their exceptional work in the environment, community outreach and cultural support.

The Nam Hai won the award for Commitment to the Community, the Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa in Australia for the Commitment to the Environment and the Halekulani Hotel in Hawaii won the Commitment to Culture award.

Vietnam Airlines to add over 580 flights for Tet holiday

vietnam airlinesVietnam Airlines will have 583 more flights to meet rising travel demand of Vietnamese people who want to get back to their families across the country for celebrating the Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet, in early February.

The flagship carrier will run the additional flights from January 18 to February 20 on the 10 major routes having strong air travel demand, with more than 100,000 seats to be made available.

This is the airline’s second announcement of its domestic flight frequency increases in just more than one month prior to the nation’s biggest holiday.
