Tourism eyes foreign shoppers

Retail saleshopping centers were one of the most important benefits of tourism and essential to boost co-ordination between State bodies in order to design more professional sales promotion strategies to lure visitors, experts said at a seminar in Ha Noi.

The symposium was held to review the "Impressive Viet Nam Grand Sale 2010" which was launched to ignite tourism in August and September in Ha Noi, HCM City and Da Nang. The scheme was jointly undertaken by the Ha Noi Department of Industry and Trade and the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

A new travel study shows that potential holidaymakers are increasingly using the internet to plan their holidays. The survey found that nine out of ten people use their home computers to look up travel information online. These numbers reflect a growing trend of internet use amongst people looking to book city breaks and other holidays, says Daniel Ox, Managing Director of online holiday experts Beat The Brochure. Ox elaborates: “The internet has infiltrated almost every part of our society and the travel market is no exception. Indeed, there is so much great travel information out there on the internet and you can find key facts on virtually any destination just by logging on to your home computer.”

Festival to celebrate Delta's ‘Plain of Reeds'

delta festivalDong Thap Province plans to organise the biggest ever festival in the Mekong Delta region to mark the 30th anniversary of the Dong Thap Muoi (Plain of Reeds) sub-region.
As many as 500 booths in the ornamental plant and trade festival will feature various products and activities. They will review the achievements of the region during the past 30 years and promote tourism in the area.
Besides showcasing beautiful trees, flowers and bonsai creations, several conferences will be held on developing the Dong Thap Muoi region and promoting investment in the Mekong Delta. Several contests will also be part of the December 1-5 festival in Cao Lanh city.

Vietnam Airlines will open flights to Narita, Japan

vietnam_airlinesVietnam Airlines will open 7 flights per week from Da Nang city to Narita International Airport in Tokyo, Japan as from mid-December.
The 184-seat Airbus A321 flights will depart from Da Nang at 2:55 AM and arrive in Narita at 1:20 PM (local time) with a layover in HCM City.
