Hue leads in tourism attraction

ngo mon gateThua Thien-Hue leads other provinces and cities in attracting tourists, said the Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Phan Tien Dung.
The figure will be announced in December by tourism experts and managers based on criteria set by the Institute of Tourism Development Research.
By the end of November, 2010. Thua Thien-Hue had received nearly 1.4 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 11.7 %. The number of foreign arrivals to Hue also increased by 7.9 %. Its tourism sector earned VND774 billion, up 20.4 % compared to the same period 2009.

Till October, 2010, Khanh Hoa Province welcomed 308,000 foreign tourists, increasing 14.34% year-on-year and fulfilling 86.72% the year’s target. They are good figures. However, the season of international tourism is between November and January. Before this winter vacation, the provincial tourism department has made careful preparations such as marketing of tourist products via media, joining international fairs and linking with international tourist centers, according to Nguyen Van Thanh, director of Khanh Hoa Tourism Promotion Center.

Vietnam Airlines to open HCM City - Beijing air route

National flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines announced it will officially open an air route from HCM City to Beijing, China from December 16. The new route was planned to operate three flights per week on Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
Flights will depart from HCM City late in the afternoon and early in the morning on the next day. This was an ideal flight schedule for tourists and businessmen to save time. The new air route will be a suitable choice for passengers who want to link flights from China to Vietnam’s central region, South East Asia and Australia.

Promoting golf based tourism in Vietnam

Howie Roberts, the general director of Da Nang Golf Club, said golf-based tourism was not a new phenomenon. He said many European and Middle Eastern countries had been attracting visiting golfers for years. Thailand is seen as the largest golf-based tourism market in the world. This is reflected in the numbers of high-end golf tourists visiting the country. In Vietnam, golf is still a relatively new sport. Roberts said it was vital Vietnam promoted itself as an attractive destination for golfers if it wants to fully realize its potential.
